Review of Hostel: Part II (2007) by Dov D — 30 Apr 2014
Eli Roth's second Hostel film has the same social commentary wrapped in a different package. It's redundant and lacks the surprises the first one had. The acting is decent for what it is, but the script is far too clunky for the narrative being told.
I did love how they retained the original location (unlike the completely unrelated third film) and stayed true to everything that was established in the first one, but there's no real purpose to this movie.
It's the first film with more blood and less of a coherent, structured plot. Bottom line, If you liked the first one, you're bound to enjoy part two, but if not, don't bother.
