Review of Hostel (2011) by Michael T — 07 Feb 2012
No, not really that good even with Tarantino as exec. producer. Just like it's Eastern European setting, Hostel is cheap and nasty. The plot is poor, stealing bits from many other films and piecing them together.
The acting also sucks, as does the attempt at horror, which is more sickening than actually terrifying. Seeing the low budget of this film, shows that this is one of those school holiday films to shock and awe the kids, and ultimately rob them of their money.
However on the upside the nudity in this film was great, but then again so was it in films like Porkies, so that counts for very little. Hostel just isn't that good, and comes not even close to an intelligent and far better made modern terror film like Wolf Creek.
