Personally, I think this is a classic horror picture, but more like cult status than masterful art .. seriously demented, anxiety-inducing graphic violence, but not as disgusting as the motive behind it .
. Roth has a firm handle on creating an atmosphere of suspense, a well-thought out script powering it all .. the revenge-driven final act feels awkward for a reason I can't quite place ..
