Review of Hostel (2011) by David B — 27 Dec 2012
"Hey David, if you like 'Saw' then you'll love this!" No, I didn't. It was just an excuse to bring gore to the screen, the plot was so boring that I'm suprised I manged to watch it till the end, maybe I was hoping for a good ending, maybe a twist? Nope.
The gore was good, some moments were good but this doesn't give justice to how poor the film really is. It was badly written, surprised that this was the same chap who wrote the better "Cabin Fever".
Beyond its 'How far can I go?' attitude to violence, Hostel has no reason to exist. Ok, this was Eli Roth's debut feature but thank goodness he gets better later on. I don't think I'll watch the other two (Part II and III) unless there's never else good on TV.
Poor acting, which to be honest, I knew was gonna happen. Poor excuse for a film but and there's always a but, it's better than most. Wouldn't recommend it though. Stay away and just stick to the Awesome Saw series.
