Review of Hostel (2006) by Serkan S — 20 Jan 2012
What kind of sick mind made this? Totally gross, pointless and unintelligent. Starts out like a teen sex comedy for dumb-ass, then our "heroes" found themselves in Slovakia to nail as many sex-mad chicks as possible, then they met their "preys" in hostel, and finally became the very subject of an "art show".
Bummer!!! Except for the puke, everything looks fake and corny. I must admit that the premise is helluva great, but the delivery lacks punch on all fronts. Not a smart slasher, not a real horror, it's just like a hardcore porn gorefest, nothing but all gross graphical violence.
I said the premise is OK, because I've heard lots of stories of trapping "randy foreigners" by local sexpots especially in Budapest and Prag, but not pursuing such a "mighty" purpose portrayed here.
Mostly the aim is pretty innocent: to rob donkey's money off, force'em to pay as much as $50 for a cup of coffee in preset locales!! Here, they set standards higher, simply selling foreigners to rich local torturers who hack off limbs for fun!!! The film serves absolutely no purpose, except making some "hunters" think twice before going on sex tours :).
