Review of Hostage (2005) by Jamie N — 06 Sep 2008
Teenagers inadvvertently take hostage an unconscious man, fit teenage lass and boy genius. Meanwhile the family of negotiator Willis are also taken hostage. Decent thriller, better than 16 Blocks,.
The script is well-written, re-invigorated the genre with a complex and unpredictable plot. However, as with Vantage Point and movies that thrive on plot twists, once you've seen it once it loses its rewatchability substantially.
Typically proficient acting quality from Bruce et al, although he does seem a bit vacant and wooden at times. Pity about the adverts (on Film4).
Aren't psychopaths entertaining!
