Review of Hostage (2005) by Lynne N — 09 Mar 2009
Ben Foster playing a bad guy and not the boy next door?! Unfortunately that's about the only original thing in this movie. The opening scene is extremely slickly shot, but then the direction seems to run out of creative juice and 'Hostage' becomes your run of the mill action-thriller-starring-Bruce-Willis.
That said, there are still worse ways to spend two hours. The acting is, by and large, pretty good (including the child stars) and the plot is well-paced. Worth a look if you're not in the mood for a 'thinker'.
