Review of Hostage (2005) by Lace — 23 May 2009
Bruce Willis is Jeff Talley, a former NYPD hostage negotiator who's now a police captain in an upscale suburb due to an incidant not going the way anyone hoped for. He must retrieve a DVD holding some information for some mafioso after the kidnap his family. But that won't be so easy, as 3 hooligans were robbing the mansion that housed said DVD and have taken the family hostage. This is NOT a Die Hard type film, as it feels grittier and isn't as opptimistic as the films in that excellent franschise. I found the film to be better than the trailers made it seem like it'd be. And even though I liked it alot, you might want to take that with a grain of saldt, since I'm a HUGE Bruce Willis fan, and even own a copy of "the Story of Us" (not where anyone can see, there ARE limits to even HUGE BW fans LOL).
My Grade: B-.
DVD Extras: Commentary by Director Florent Siri; 12 minute 40 second behind the scenes featurette; 6 Deleted scenes & 2 Extended scenes with optional commentary; and Trailers for "Sin City"; "Scary Movie 3.5", "Cursed", "Dracula 3: Legacy", "the Prophecy: Uprising", and "Hellraiser: Hellworld".
