Review of Horsemen (2009) by Christian B — 22 Aug 2009

Probably one of the worst films on my list for this year. From the horrible acting to the equally horrible writing. I was able to predict what was going to happen at the end before the film even reached the halfway point.

I have always been a fan of Dennis Quaid and have watched nearly everything he has done for the past thirty years. I also understand that his career has literally slowed down within the last ten years but I still do not understand how you could accept this role.

Ziyi Zhang, although, her english has improved, her acting, nonetheless has not. Clifton Collins Jr. is a very good actor but again, I am puzzled at the choices that these two great actors are picking.

The directing only compliments the horrendous film with more unexcitable bewilderment that would cause the viewer to wonder what is the exact point of the film other than the obvious blatant disregard for story.

I get the film, a couple of disgruntled youths who are blaming all their woes on specific people who have mistreated them and they go on a killing spree acting on the theories of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

A forensic detective gets put on the case and in the usual loss of family unity due to his 24/7 occupation has to find these murderers while trying to rekindle the lost relationship of his sons. Just by making that synopsis, you would think the film is full of emotional drama accompanied by horrendous acts of violence, suspense, and calamity.

Unfortunately, the story is told in a mild and bland form that causes this film to deflate way before the film is even started.
