Review of Horrible Bosses (2011) by Samitha B — 22 Jan 2015
Let me just begin by saying that I do not like this film, AT ALL. The whole point of a comedy is to make you laugh. And this left me the coldest I'd been in a long while. The acting is wishy washy, the script is hopelessly derivative, the jokes are so obvious they might as well have just told you why they're funny and the humour is simply ridiculous.
This film aims for dark humour but, along with a boring screenplay, Sudeikis, Bateman and Day dont know how to work with the material. Also Jason Bateman was the worst of the cast. As usual. And the film offers no new perspective or twist on dark comedy, insulting modern geniuses like the Coen brothers in the process.
Whilst also insulting both Stanley Kubrick and the Monty Pythons. If this is what dark humour has come to, then maybe I'm better off having lived (or died) 50 years ago.
