Review of Horrible Bosses 2 (2014) by Martin C — 06 Mar 2015
Apparently no one got the spectrum of Horrible Bosses 1 and 2. In the first all bosses are mean and terrible so the boys try to kill them, now they are the boss and they go to the opposite end of the spectrum.
They become the boss and do nothing to be the boss, plus they fall victim to middle management. They are the boss and fall victim to the boss of manufacturers, Distributors. Christoph Waltz was terribly underused comically, but Chris Pine was hilarious.
I may be biased but Jason Bateman is what made me laugh in both. His negative attitude and realistic concerns fall to deaf ears with Sudekis and Day, who are childish and stupid. The critics say that no one grew from the last film and that it was a rehash of the first.
Does real life actually play that way? No, we all sometimes end up in similar situations that we've been in before and the boys do that here. The part that made me laugh the most was Jason Bateman's face as they wait for the train to pass so they can resume the chase, he doesn't have to say anything, his expression says it all.
I urge you to reconsider your stance on this film. The American dream is always blocked by someone who is out to screw you no matter what position you are in, but the end is what matters. They are bought out by Harken but when he begins to belittle them about the numbers, this is when they walk away, satisfied about their place, and show us how they learned that oppressive management can just be walked away from because they knew that no matter what, they did a good job.
No jerk boss ever changes but they changed from having to rely upon the bosses point of view to having confidence in themselves. That is why I gave it a perfect score.
