Review of Horns (2013) by Arron K — 09 Oct 2014
I was anticipating to watch this movie since I first heard about it, because it sounded really interesting and crazy, but also because it had many wonderful people behind it. Alexandre Aja is one of my favorite horror directors and I was very excited about his newest project. Also, Daniel Radcliffe is a very recognizable actor and a good one, but most importantly, it was Juno Temple the one that really got me into the movie because she's one of my favorite actresses and she's always great in everything she does. Furthermore, the movie was very different as to how I thought it would be, because it didn't necessarily felt like a horror movie but more like fantasy type of movie. It had all these types of genres, which was kind of odd but it kind of work for this film. The story was a very interesting one, but I felt like it didn't work that well on the movie or maybe it was the way it was told that felt all over the place. But still, the intention was there as well as the potential. Thus, it was sometimes silly and very strange but deep down it had a very emotional and powerful core which happens in its last third of the movie. But still, it had many elements of fantasy and symbolism that I hadn't seen before used like this, and that was refreshing and even odd but still looked great. Overall, the movie had everything to be good, and even though mostly everything worked, it's story felt maybe too stretched, and it was affected by it. Still the final product was a very fun movie with some great professionals to back it up.
