Review of Horns (2013) by Adrian Z — 04 Oct 2014
Radcliffe is accused of killing his girlfriend, but then wakes up one morning with horns on his head, which have the effect of making those around him reveal their innermost secrets. Will he find the real killer? Horns is tonally a ponderous mess, swinging from stodgy melodrama, to mild horror, to black comedy, to comic bookish revenge story.
A few enjoyable scenes along the way, mostly when the film switches into black comedy mode, but overall, the adaptation of Joe Hill's (Stephen King's son) novel a bit of a bore. May have worked better as a bona fide Z-grade film - the A-grade polish just does not match the material.
