Review of Horns (2013) by Bill M — 31 Oct 2014
Tonally uneven and sluggishly paced, Horns never quite pulls together it's dark, tragic fantasy and horror comedy elements together cohesively enough to be a completely satisfying experience, but the individual parts are so strong, from Daniel Radcliffe's fantastic performance that really breaks the actor free of Hogwarts for good, to the truly gorgeous cinematography by David Lynch regular Fredrick Elme's and the various moments of black comedy and surreal sequences add up to a very unique movie that feel's diffrent to anything else out there, even if it doesnt entirely come together, a future cult movie that is worth a watch.
Best to think of it as a dark fairy tale/doomed romance tale rather than a straight horror.
