Review of Horns (2013) by Michaël G — 22 Jan 2015
Ig Parrish's girlfriend was raped and murdered. Ig is the only suspect and the whole town has basically decided he's guilty. One morning Ig wakes up with a pair of horns. Said horns make people tell him all kinds of deep dark personal secrets. He uses this to find out who the real killer is.
At two hours it goes long for your average horror flick and the amount of absurdity comes off much more absurd than the novel's dark fable and dark humour vibe. This isn't helped by the random soundtrack, which I'm still unsure of whether that is purposeful or not.
I did enjoy myself though. Daniel Radcliffe does a great job and the whole cast is having fun with their characters' compulsions. Juno Temple's best work in her quiet and more horrible scenes but she does haunt the film like you expect she haunts Ig.
