Review of Horns (2013) by Jeff B — 08 Feb 2015
Got to Aja some credit, when he commits to a concept he certainly give it his all starting with a seemingly Burton concept at least initially of a loving couple who splits up in the opening of the film, only for her to show up dead the following day, brutally raped with the blame being squarely laid at the feet of Radcliffe's lead character of Ig.
Unbeknowing of the state of his girlfriend, Radcliffe disappears into the night to drown his pain only to wake up with another girl and a new fresh set of Horns that have grown into his forehead that seem to bear the ability to make those who aren't protected by a deep faith to tell the brutal truth to him.
Grossly absurd and dark in combintation with a committed earnest nature from Radcliffe helps to hold the audiences interest and provides us with another film that is as far from Potter as one can get outside of the supernatural nature of the proceedings.
Ridiculous, queasy fun.
