Review of Hope Springs (2012) by Caroline A — 15 Mar 2013
I know this one didn't get the best reviews and even my mom found it boring, but I liked it. Tommy Lee Jones was great and the grumpy complacent husband and Meryl was super as the wife trying to rekindle their marriage.
I felt bad for poor Elizabeth Shoe who had a lame supporting role as a bartender (Cocktails is one of my all time favs and I wish her career had gone better). I found this film to be an accurate portrayal of a 31 year marriage and I think many couples could find themselves relating to the situation and characters.
I loved the ending. My fav part of the movie was each time Meryl felt let down and then was surprised by her husband. Every time her husband surprised her with hope for their future she looked at the camera and gave the most heart warming smile.
