This movie was NOT as advertised. Have you seen the trailer? The slick marketers do everything they can to make you THINK that this is a romantic comedy. The trailer looks happy and funny and hopeful, all the things that this movie isn't.
You would think that a marriage specialist played by Steve Carell would be funny. He's not. It is a dramatic role. if you want a drama that highlights the struggles of intimacy in marriage over many years, then this may be for you.
But if you are looking to be entertained with a few laughs while a serious subject is addressed, look elsewhere.
