Review of Hope Springs (2003) by Eden B — 15 Dec 2003
For those of you who don't need to be bored with why a talented artist, devastated by his breakup with long-time girl friend and fiance (played expertly by Minnie Driver), suddenly overcomes his devastation upon meeting a young woman who works as a caregiver at a retirement home, this may be the movie for you. If why doesn't bother you over much and you're just looking for some lite entertainment, have I got a movie for you.
Hope Springs is a sweet little romantic comedy -- enlived by good dialog and some good supporting performances (I love Oliver Platt -- but there's also Mr. and Mrs. Fischer and the busybodies at the store). I enjoyed watching the movie -- but then, I was in a mood to be entertained and I can put aside my need for the world to make sense once in a while .
