Review of Hope Floats (1998) by Jessica S — 30 Sep 2007
OK, so it's not a movie of epic proportions. It's a little cheesy at moments. But gosh, it's good. Anyone from a small town will relate (as I did) -- especially if you're from the South.
It's a sadly sweet movie about life falling apart like it sometimes does, with some funny moments -- and one of my favorite movie lines of all time at the very end, "Childhood is what you spend the rest of your life trying to overcome.
That's what momma always says. She says that beginnings are scary, endings are usually sad, but it's the middle that counts the most. Try to remember that when you find yourself at a new beginning.
Just give hope a chance to float up. And it will...".
