Review of Hope Floats (1998) by Rebecca A — 01 Feb 2008
This is a movie that kinds of grows on you as you watch it. Sandra Bullock is the not too bright, perfect wife without any marketable skills sets. Except for having been a cheerleader in High School!!! Slightly romantic, but highly practical movie where she goes out and gets a job and a new man.
Not a film for feminists to admire, but a classic theme never the less. A film where a woman's identity is her daughter/family, her community and her man....
