Review of Hope Floats (1998) by Trish H — 07 Feb 2012
A very sweet, real movie. I get kind of tired of seeing romances where one love interest fails and there's one scene where the woman or man is "depressed" and then WHAM! They fall in love with someone else.
This showed a lot of reality in my opinion....she was taken on national television by her best friend to find out her husband was cheating with her. Then she goes home, where she really doesn't want to be, and then comes the real depression.
Not wanting to get out of bed, crying, feeling lost.....all the things that people go through when this happens. And the Dad neglecting the daughter for the tramp he cheated with. Not some sugar-coated, she's in love the next day kind of movie and that's what I liked the most about it.
