Review of Hope Floats (1998) by Amy S — 24 Aug 2007
This film remains as Sandra Bullock's best film. Bullock is at her best as Birdie, the down on her luck devorcee who is raising her daughter in a small Texas town. Connik Jr. also gives a good performance, but it is screen veteran Gena Rowlands who steals the show as Birdie's smart-talking, comical mother.
If you've ever been through a rough time in your life, you'll appreciate the story told in this funny, romantic and touching tour-de-force, directed by Academy Award winner Forest Whitaker.
