Review of Hop (2011) by Zachariah C — 09 Apr 2012
First, Russell Brand is hysterical, but if he ever wants to really make his funny known, he is going to have to do better. His funniest movie so far was Forgetting Sarah Marshall. That is neither here nor there.
The movie was cute and would be a great Easter movie to bust out once a year and subject future generations to, but the overall plot was pretty weak. I am not totally sure they could have done much to improve it, but there has to be something.
There is great potential between Marsden and Brand to be goofy together. One of the best scenes included Cuoco. The three played off of each other very well. I love Hank Azaria and the crazy voices he comes up with.
He is very funny, most of the time. Oh, and to go back to James Marsden...can I just say that he is great in comedies as an over the top character? He does well in serious movies as well, but comedies suite him nicely.
Any way, the movie is definitely a rent, but most likely you never will have to, because it will be on tv by next Easter, and every year after.
