Review of Hoot (2006) by Jimh. — 06 May 2006
This film is for those who love Florida -- the real Florida rather than the manufactured Florida, for fans of Carl Hiaasen, and for environmentalists. The stars are the Florida scenics -- lovingly photographed, and the owls.
Like many good stories, there are embelleshments. The bullodozer is huge, the characters are colorful, and the plot vividly drawn. But, as for most stories, one must sit back, suspend disbelief, and enjoy the show.
For those who do, and for the filmgoers described above, the film will be warm and engaging.
