Review of Hoop Dreams (1994) by Codie E — 24 Mar 2008
The best documentary ever made. This film is about so many things; basketball, dreams, family, ambitions, race relations, poverty, drug addiction, life. The respect and insight given by Steve James and his team into the lives of William Gates and Arthur Agee is unpresidented.
So many of the moments in the film make your heart sink and rise within minutes, it almost makes the viewer awkward and embarressed for being given such access and insight into their lives.
