â??Hoop Dreamsâ?? a documentary filmed by Steven James that tells us the story of two inner city Chicago kids named William Gates and Arthur Agee that love the game of basketball, and how they want to be like their hero Isah Thomas. Both boys try out for a high school called St. Josephâ??s were their hero Isah Thomas went, both boys try out. They both make the team but while Arthur is on the team his mom could not afford to send him to St. Josephâ??s so he is sent back to the city school while William stays on the team and tries to his best. While watching this film you get to see what their life is like living the Inner City community and how hard it is compared to living in a normal neighborhood and in a normal house.

When William Gates first came to St. Josephâ??s he is really shocked that how many white and black students there were compared to the city school. When you hear the title you think itâ??s just a documentary about kids and basketball, but is more than that. This documentary shows us how life for Inner city kids is different from most of the American life, how race plays a key role in your life, and wants us to believe in Arthur and William that they will succeed with their life. â??Hoop Dreamsâ?? is one of the best documentaryâ??s I have ever seen, this film will teach you a lot of things in your life like showing us how many peopleâ??s lives our different from every day society, and how we can open our minds to peopleâ??s lives and learn about them more than ours. See this film it may inspire you like it did for me.
