Review of Hook (1991) by Donny M — 27 Dec 2013
This is one of my favorite movies. First, Robin Williams is fantastic, as always. He does a great transformation from strict business father to loving care-free child. Second, it's a great take on Peter Pan.
It is the follow-up story to a grown-up Peter, taking place in modern times. There are lots of fun references to the story, movie, and play (many images like the teddy bear and glasses, and a few lines that are word for word to the play).
If you love the story of Peter Pan, this movie does it justice (and does not ruin it). Third, it has a great message about being child-like and putting family first, and never forgetting where you're from and never growing up.
It's got a good balance of humor, action, and "sappyness." Highly recommend!
