Review of Hoodwinked Too! Hood VS. Evil (2011) by J B — 17 May 2011
I knew it was gonna be bad cause Hayden Panettiere took over Anne Hathaway's role as Red, but I loved the first one so I gave it a shot. I can now definitively say that Hathaway was infinitely better as Red than Panettiere. Also, Martin Short replaced Belushi as the Woodsman, which I thought might be okay, but it wasn't. On top of that, Granny didn't feel the same to me. She didn't come off as the cool bad-a** she once was.
What helped save this movie from being in the same league as "Happily N'ever After" was that Cheech and Chong voiced the three pigs, which I really enjoyed. And the returning Wolf and Goat were entertaining.
They updated the animation, but I personally thought part of the charming appeal of the first one was the cheap (some would say crappy) animation. Overall, there were a few laughs, but not nearly as many as the first Hoodwinked.
