Review of Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves (1997) by Matt V — 13 Jan 2008
It was direct to video for this one, which usually isn't a good sign. You can pretty much count on one hand... okay, maybe one finger, the number of quality films that have been released straight to video. What defines them more so is the Disney stamp of approval for "ability to cash in on the popularity of a prior success story by cranking out relatively inexpensive straight to video sequels.".
The movie suffers under it's automatic association with greedy superficialism, and thus is doomed to be seen as worse as it may actually be. And the film really isn't thaaaaat bad... for a kids flick. It's worse then the sequel, and doesn't come close to touching the original's charm and creativity. But it's better then some of the junk that comes out of that vault.
