Review of Honey, I Shrunk the Kids (1989) by Guido S — 21 Nov 2013
Rick Moranis is a scientist/inventor who tries to create a shrinking laser. However, it doesn't work until some kids hit a baseball in and block one of the lasers. When they go to grab the ball, they get zapped down to miniature size.
When Moranis comes home, he inadvertently sweeps them up and puts them in the trash outside. They then have to go through the jungle of their lawn to get back home. Although a lot of the effects are dated, they do their job of being entertaining.
They end up befriending an ant while Moranis tries to not step on the lawn. There is a weird thing about a scorpion attacking them. Not much of a comedy, but it is entertaining. There are some weird things to see in a kids film like cigarettes from the dad and a death from a fight.
Outside those thing, it's a good entertaining movie, but even all these years later, those insects still freak me out.
