Review of Honey, I Shrunk the Kids (1989) by Bill M — 10 Feb 2015
The always and forever underrated "Honey, I Shrunk The Kids" is a really great slice of 80's blockbuster joy, back when such movies had invention and fun and crazy shit by the bucket loads.
It's pure kids escapism, especially the bit with the house size Oreo cookie, and is filled with incredible sets (the huge, jungle like back garden sets are still impressive) and often amazingly realized special effects (the giant bee flight is great) the feeling of mad, anything goes potential in movies of this era is still infectious and wondrous and something I really miss.
