Review of Honey, I Blew Up the Kid (1992) by Fico N — 26 Nov 2008
This is one of those family franchises that was never THAT good to begin with but somehow kept making money (maybe cause of kids like me that liked to see people shrink to ant size). However ridiculous all of these where I will defend the first one to the death, it was dumb and fun, key word FUN.
The thing about shrinking people is that it transports us to a different universe, the micro world. Seeing those kids float in a bowl of cereal is part of my cherished childhood memories. Now, blowing a kid up takes us away from the wonders in the first movie and our as well, your just making our little neighborhood that much smaller.
On another point, by this point I think we can all agree that Mr. Szalinski is probably the worst excuse for a father put on FILM... aside Vader... whom Moranis spoofed by the way (a knack for playing bad fathers?).
