Review of Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey (1993) by Brady L — 24 Dec 2018
Childhood memories. We all have them. Some are good, some bad, some are timeless and some we wish we could forget. This film is a memorable ride through nostalgia as you recall all the times as a child you watched it with family and friends.
Sitting in front of the TV, watching 3 animals (that talked, one like Marty McFly) attempt to find their way home through the seemingly endless wilderness of Oregon. The witty banter, the lovable animal actors and even the relatable human characters make this film a fantastic family film for all ages.
Watching this film as an adult, the scenes of violence towards the animals, such as the water sequence with Sassy and the fall of Shadow are more jarring because you realize these actual animals were used to depict these scenes.
During the end credits, the filmmakers make a statement letting people know the stunts the animals performed were done as safely as possibly and that there was plenty of precautions in place to ensure nothing would go wrong.
I heavily recommend this movie for anyone who can get their hands on it.
