Review of Homefront (2013) by Adrian Z — 23 May 2014

Sylvester Stallone writes this actioner for Jason Statham, who plays a virtually unbeatable DEA agent who retires to a small town with his 10 year old daughter (Vidovic) only to quickly become embroiled in a revenge plot involving local meth maker (Franco).

Pretty ridiculous, and probably, rather appalling from the perspective of all the violence his child has to witness, this throwback to action movies from two decades ago still has a few tricks up it's sleeves - decent non-CG enhanced action, and a surprisingly strong cast, from which Kate Bosworth, as the town junkie/bully that sets the plot in motion without thinking through all the consequences, is probably the most interesting character in the film in terms of development.
