(2013) Homefront.

ACTION.

You know if there's any movie I'm able to view on rental, I'm probably going to watch it differently than other people. The reason I'm saying this is because I used my fast forward button to fast forward all the pointless preliminaries and just watch some scenes without watching the entire movie since the course of events are all so relative. Anyways, another thing I want to mention is that it's also another one of those movies where the previews are totally different than the movie itself since as I recall from watching the previews at home, the previews gave me the insinuation that Phil Broker's (Jason Statham) young daughter, Maddy(Izabela Vidovic) was already kidnapped and that her dad was making many attempts to get her back- kind of like the 'Taken' movies with Liam Neeson. And then when you watch it, it's completely the opposite, therefore, this is false advertising. Maddy does get kidnapped but that doesn't happen until much later into the movie which is like sometime near the end when the previews indicate that she was kidnapped sometime in the beginning. This bare pass is the result of it's fight and gun scenes which is not much, but enough to grant this film something since I'm not one of those guys who just don't like to see people talk when I get enough of that at home. The simple plot has been adapted by Sylvestor Stallone from a novel written by Chuck Logan. Statham plays undercover DEA agent and upon being involved into one his stings at the beginning, the leader of this particular gang swore vengeance on him because the shooting death of his son. Upon going undercover in a new town, he's then bullied some more once his daughter gets involved with a bully. The circumstances are nothing new, but the action is probably the same as Statham's other films like 'The Expendables and 'The Transporter' films which he does some 'kenpo' fighting with the only difference is that there isn't much action on here. We're also not explained how this James Franco character who plays the bad guy made many efforts to contact this gang leader who was locked up in prison. I mean, this entire sequence is too coincidental and would not happen in real life. And this movie could've done more with the actors they have with Kate Bosworth and James Franco playing controlled role.

2.5 out of 4 stars.
