Review of Home on the Range (2004) by Elliott A — 17 Dec 2009
Disney's last 2D film before they announced its return in 2009 with the highly anticipated and much hyped The Princess and the Frog. This is an excuse to say 2D animation isn't the way anymore.
I believe Disney made this film to do away with 2D and go into 3D because CG animation was growing popular. Pixar does it so much better because it pays attention to story, character, and design. Home on the Range would have made a kick-butt western musical if Disney had done just that.
Luckily Disney recognized it's fault once their CG flicks (Chicken Little, Meet the Robinsons) weren't keeping the company afloat and decided to return to 2D with The Princess and the Frog, which was so epic.
Home on the Range did have potential though. Grade: C+.
