Review of Home on the Range (2004) by Ken S — 06 Dec 2011
Home on the Range is crude, rude, simplistically animated, with a humdrum plot. It may be one of the worst Disney animated features, certainly near the bottom of the list...down there with the worst of the package films of the WWII period.
Luckily it's only 76 minutes long, but its not even worth sitting through it that long really. It hardly even feels like it is a Disney film, it feels like a knock off of Looney Tunes. Disney decided to stop production on traditional animated features after this film, focusing on only CG animated films.
..as if the poor box office of its films was purely based on the way they were made. They were doing poorly because the films after the renaissance failed to be as good as they had been during the 90s.
Pixar began to make quality animated films, and soon after Disney's animation studios began to coast. Home on the Range is just not that good a movie, and it would've been a sad note to end their traditional animation range on, luckily they've returned to the format.
