Review of Home of the Brave (2006) by Scott W — 06 Jun 2009
It's tough making a movie about veterans returning from war to live up to the standard of "The Best Years of our Lives." And the scenes with the vets trying to integrate into normal life I felt like I'd seen before.
What I thought was more compelling in this movie were the scenes when the vets would interact with each other. I really enjoyed the scene between Tommy and Vanessa at the movie theatre. That being said, I think sometimes less is more and some parts were overdone, like the standoff and the Thanksgiving dinner scene.
It's not a great movie but I'll give it a mild recommendation.
