Review of Home Movies (1980) by J M — 07 May 2012
Despite the fact that the "film within a film" realizes that Denis is an extra in his own life, the actual film does not. And when the lead character is blander than water, what can be expected? That said, the concept is fresh enough and Douglas and Allen especially seem to be having fun.
Gardenia and Graham however, fall prey to acting like bad caricatures. Another good Donaggio score, though.
