Review of Home for the Holidays (1995) by Dr. F P — 01 Dec 2013
No thank you, egg close ups *vomits*. Was I the only one getting creepy incestuous undertones throughout this? The beginning was a little boring, I think the whole thing lightens up greatly as soon as Robert Downey Jr comes on screen.
I really love the relationship between Claudia and Tommy. I did enjoy the scenes of the family dinner, I laughed a few times and whilst I never particularly warmed to Holly Hunter, I did want to see what happened in the end.
What really disappointed me was this forced emotional drama with the father remembering the past and the sister who exercised in what looked like a tin foil box. There's only so much of montages and depressing music you can take.
The end really let this down, i'm sorry Nat King Cole, but just no thanks, I know she got the guy, but the guy wasn't that great and would you really let him stalk you onto a plane when you've only spoken to him for a few hours? Well.
..overall I think this is pretty alright, it could have been a lot worse and I just want to BE Robert Downey Jr's characters...completely spontaneous and rambunctious!
