I somehow missed this one when I was reviewing the other Home Alone movies several months ago--which right away is not a good sign. It shows that Home Alone 3 is a forgettable romp if nothing else.

For some reason, this movie sticks in a whole plot about a missile needing to be launched by some secret agent villains. The villains need a computer chip that has ended up in the hands of the little kid. Why does this pass off as our plot? And why do I get the feeling this series is about another two movies away from a kid needing to fight off aliens?

The problem with Home Alone 3 is that it's more of the same with nothing new. We get all the same slapstick with no character development, no story development, and no humor development. That's the worst part of this movie: its lack of comedy.

I will say this for Home Alone 3: at no point in time is its awfulness congruent to its child star Alex D. Linz. Compared to most child stars (including Macaulay Culkin in everything but the original Home Alone), this kid really does a decent job and seems like he knows how to act.

As for the rest of the cast, I really wish I could say the same thing. The rest of the cast are annoying and lack any semblence of logic.

Home Alone 3 might be nice for keeping the children quiet for half an hour, but it's certainly not worthy of anyone's attention above the age of five. Even as a little kid, I thought this movie was bad. (And this is coming from the mind of a child who enjoyed Godzilla and Space Jam.) We need originality if there's going to be another one of these movies made, but hopefully another one will not be made.

2/10.
