Review of Home Again (2017) by Jane D — 26 Sep 2017
I went in with no expectations and was still grossly disappointed. It was like "oh this movie is bad, wait here are some funny, charming moments, I was wrong OH nope just kidding, this is the worst.
" By the end of what felt like four hours but was only about an hour-and-a-half, I was fantasizing about grabbing the writer by the windpipe for putting this hateful thing into the world. I mean rom-coms are usually not my bag, but there are always exceptions and I love Reese Witherspoon, Michael Sheen and Candice Bergen.
Apparently they all did something horribly wrong though, because blackmail is the only reason I can think of for signing on to this. As for the three younger dudes, I have never hated a leading "man" more in my life.
I spent most of the movie making involuntary gagging noises and wondering when they were going to kill him off (spoiler alert: they didn't!! it was terrible!) Also gag-worthy were the boilerplate precocious kid moments.
I swear to god my tubes tied themselves while I sat in the theater. In short, you could blow your nose into the $10 bill you'd spend on this movie and have put it to better use.
