If you have kids, there is nothing to think about. Children will love it. On the other hand the monsters' design is pretty plain and boring. There is nothing interesting about them if you don't count that they can change the color.
Through the whole movie when the main character spoke, I saw in my head Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons / Big Bang Theory) because they act in some sort of way the same. Jokes and gags are nice and so even as an adult you can survive the movie with your offspring.
