Review of Home (2015) by Evan C — 31 May 2015
Home is pretty. Pretty looking. Pretty colours. Pretty boring. I managed a chuckle but a couple times and never did the theater manage a laugh. While I did hear a few "what the heck?" from a youngin here and there, my reaction was more along the lines of "when is it going to be over?".
While there are cute creatures, crazy contraptions, and an attempt at telling a story with a message, Home never seems to figure out how to deliver anything with impact.
And what's with the songs? In the trailer we get popular music to match the visuals. In the film we get all original songs by someone I've never heard of that don't go along with the screen in any way.
This film is a lot of fluff and while that isn't necessarily a bad thing, in the case of Home, substance and better direction would have helped a lot more than poorly delivered weirdness.
