Review of Home (2015) by Kimber L — 13 Sep 2015
Home is a predictable movie that mostly serves as a segue for musical interludes by voice actors Rihanna and JLo. BUT it's also fun! You could go all day long criticizing this movie, and you wouldn't be wrong, but you'd also be missing the larger point that your kids will enjoy it.
With a shortage of enjoyable family-friendly entertainment, this one fits into a nice little niche. Kids will be amused by Jim Parson's backward talking antics and physical humor and adults will get a kick out of Steve Martin's antics as the self-absorbed and cowardly leader of the Boov.
Beyond that, it really doesn't matter. It's not a landmark film, but it's also not awful. Enjoy it in the spirit in which it was intended: a lighthearted family film with a few honest laughs and a positive message. That's all.
