Review of Holy Motors (2012) by Frank I — 22 Apr 2013
WOOAAAHHH. OK, now this is one strange little gem but it's so intriguing and magnificent I don't even know where to start. It's far from conventional so don't even bother unless you're used to some strange stuff in your movies, and as far as plot goes, forget it.
They leave you scratching your head trying to figure out what the hell is going on and don't even drop a hint for the first hour of screen time, I'm not kidding, 1 hour until you're given some sense of what's happening.
It demands a second viewing that I'm really looking forward too. Just when I thought I had the movie figured out, it pulls the weirdest, most Shyamalan-esque twist ending I've ever seen in an art film and now I'm confused all over again.
Stunning, but don't complain if it's not your cup of tea. Every now and then I see a movie that reminds me of the fact that film is the highest art form, and this is one of those movies.
