Review of Holmes & Watson (2018) by Robert S — 27 Dec 2018
The critics are wrong! Ferrell and Reilly are as funny as ever. If you liked them in Talladega Nights or Step Brothers, you will love this movie. I'm not sure but, I think the critics are upset because they didn't get their normal preview.
If you are a fan of these types of movies, you don't go to them expecting an Oscar-level docudrama or a serious art movie - you are looking for a good time - and that is exactly what you get here. There are a lot of physical gags and slapstick humor that only Ferrell can pull off. There's some bawdy adolescent shtick but - I mean what do these "critics" expect?
I went to see the movie with my brother-in-law and even though other movies opening the same weekend may have drawn more people, everyone laughed out loud at the movie. There are some political jokes, which I found extremely humorous but, to each his own... So, finally I would just say, if you like Will Ferrell and his brand of humor, you will love this movie and have a great time. If you have a stick firmly planted up your a-- then, you not so much... Merry Christmas all!
