Review of Hollywoodland (2006) by Paul D — 01 Feb 2014
I'm not fan of Ben Affleck as an actor and think he belongs behind a camera instead (Gone Baby Gone), however, even he managed not screw this up. In fact no one did. This was really good. By avoiding the usual pitfalls of other straight-up biopics, and by turning Reeves story into a multi-layered murder mystery, an altogether unique product is achieved.
The film's key strength lies in its ability to tell a story and raise important truths about the nature of fame, fortune, love and deception. This was really one to watch.
