Review of Hollow Man (2000) by Ian M — 05 Mar 2012
Great special effects, a must see! But probability and credibility falls to zero after Lynda & Josh was closed in refrigerator. Man almost died after 15cm long stomach rip, but later was healthy like a bird, climbing ladder and fighting Caine.
- Nitroglycerin can not be done by just pooring two liquids together in a 60.
Seconds.
- Electromagnet needs high and continuous Current not one voltage peak. A hearth shocker gives high voltages peaks (when capacitors discharge briefly), so it's useless. Plugging 5 meters of vire into wall plug will explode fuse due to shortage (such wire has negligible resistance). Or it would melt insulation of wire in a moment and kill Lynda.
- if Lynda would couled 100m+ meters of wire and got working magnet, that would be a) too week to operate through 10cm distance or b) so strong on the inner side, it could not be moved at all. c) It seemed that bolt was aluminium;.
- hitting one with iron bar on back-head means skull breakdown and instant death, but man stands up and fight.
- Caine survived explosion, why didn't survive second fall into the flames and fight.
It is all bogus from taht time on. Loving couple should be frozen in that fridge. Only that would save bad grade of that movie. But director made decision, that they must survive, evil must die. No matter what... he could made it ok that way too, but he decided to spoil all.
